We all approach and use technology in different ways. Some people embrace every new gadget while others would much rather have a chat at the checkout than try to navigate a self-service machine.
The idea for the digital social care showcase came from people who are passionate about the benefits new technologies can bring to people’s lives. But to put on a really useful event we need to understand what a whole range of people think, including those who are sceptical!
To do this, we’re going out and about talking to different groups about what would make the event really useful to them. We’ve had some great conversations so far, with thanks to the North Wales Learning Disability Project Board, Workforce Board, Commissioning Board, Social Care Assistive Technologies Group and Regional Innovation Network, for giving us time at your meetings.
We’ve learned how beneficial technology was for keeping people in touch with each other during lockdowns and how it can help give us more control over our own lives. But also, that there are valid concerns that when technology replaces people we can lose out on an opportunity for social connection. We hope the event will be an opportunity for us to learn together about the best ways to make technology work for us.
We’d love the opportunity to speak to more groups about your experiences of using technology in social care to help us plan a useful and accessible event. If you’d like to be involved or would be willing for us to speak to your group, please contact us at nwrich@denbighshire.gov.uk. We look forward to hearing from you!
