There is a great deal of training, resources and support available across North Wales for the health and social care workforce. This page will provide resources that support knowledge and skills for the workforce that are caring for people with dementia. The resources below bring together a wealth of information from across the region in one place.
In order to ensure these resources, remain up to date and continue to support professional development and high standards of caring of people with dementia, we welcome the sharing of additional resources and information.

Emergency Services
Find out how our emergency service providers support people living with dementia and their carers in North Wales.

North Wales Police support people living with dementia, their friends, families and carers to plan ahead and keep their loved safe.
The Herbert Protocol is a form that carers, family or friends of a vulnerable person, or the person themselves can fill in.
North Wales Fire and Rescue provide a wealth of information on dementia fire safety.
Their information face sheet can be accessed on their website.
Mountain rescue teams are called out through the police, via the 999 system, to assist the statutory services.

Personal care and dementia
In 2022-2024 the Association for Dementia Studies, University of Worcester, led a research study called Crossing the Line. The aim of the study was to gain a deep understanding of the experiences of family carers relating to their provision of personal care to people living with dementia within the UK.
