We’re working on an exciting programme for the event. Alongside demonstrations of the latest technology, from virtual reality training and AI robots to wellbeing apps and virtual assistants, there will be a vibrant exhibition space with an exciting programme of speakers and workshops. There will be lots of opportunities for people to talk and share good ideas about how to use technology in social care practice. This will all be grounded in people’s lived experience of social care.
The aim is to have an event that’s as accessible as possible, with a mix of spaces for reflection and spaces for connection.
The plan for the day
This plan will change as we talk to lots of people who use and provide care and support about what they need from this event. Please get in touch if you’d like to be involved in the planning!
We’ll add more details as we confirm speakers, workshops and exhibitors.
But to give you an idea of what to expect…
- A big exhibition space in the Arena where companies can demonstrate their products. You’ll be able to wander round, chat to them and give things a try if you’d like!
- A stage for speakers we think everyone will be interested in at the start, middle and end of the day. If this isn’t for you, you can always drop in and out and spend time browsing in the exhibition space or taking some time out in the quiet room.
- A room with posters about digital technologies for people to look at.
- A quiet space. A room that people can retreat to if they need a break from the bright, noisy spaces.
- Interactive workshops – spaces to reflect and connect. You’ll be able to select from a few different topics to find something that matters to you. We want these to be sessions that everyone can get involved in and where we can all learn from each other – not just someone speaking at you from the front for an hour!
What kind of topics will we cover?
These are some of our early ideas below, although we’d love to hear your what you think.
- Tips for using everyday technologies to help you live the way you choose.
- Ideas for making sure that when technology replaces people we don’t lose out on opportunities for social connection.
- Mobile phone apps that you can use to help improve your health and wellbeing.
- Digital storytelling.
- What is Artificial Intelligence (AI) and what does it mean for social care?
- Advice on rolling out new IT systems in a care home or for care home providers?
- How to help your organisation and your staff get ready for a digital future.
You can submit an idea through our call for speakers, workshop ideas and posters.
To help make the event as accessible as possible, we are looking for people to help us plan the event who have personal experience of using (or struggling to use!) digital technology to help meet care and support needs. Please email us and tell us a bit about your experience and why you’d like to be involved or phone Natalie on 01824 712530.
