Fifteen members of the public respond

Citizens’ Jury 2020 – Watch Online – September 21st to 24th

***Follow www.facebook.com/MeasuringTheMountain, Twitter – @mtmwales and www.mtm.wales/citizens-jury-2020 for the latest programme updates and ways to watch***

From September 21st to 24th inspiring and thoughtful speakers from across the care and support sector will meet online to share their experiences of using, delivering and managing services in Wales.

They will be talking to MtM’s Jurors – fifteen members of the public who will ask them questions to get to the heart of what really matters in social care and how we can make that happen together.

At the end of the week, the Jurors will produce a series of recommendations that will be presented to Welsh Government and shared with organisations across Wales.

MtM will be live-streaming the sessions so you can hear everything the Jurors hear; it will be an incredible opportunity to learn more about:

  • Innovative services – how they came about and why they work
  • How different organisations have responded to the pandemic
  • What day to day life is like for people who are unpaid carers and for those who use support services – find out what makes their lives easier or more complicated
  • The priorities of the public as the Jurors ask questions and get to the heart of matters

This is the first time a Citizens’ Jury has been conducted online and it is an amazing example of involving the public in complex policy issues that affect people all over Wales.

MtM will be showcasing the principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act with a programme that includes heads of services, leaders of innovative work in the third sector, members of a Regional Partnership Board and people who use services and people who are unpaid carers.

Even in the midst of a pandemic, 125 people registered their interest in being a Juror, an unequivocal demonstration of how keen people in Wales are to have their voices heard.   From those 125, fifteen were selected who broadly represent the population in Wales.  They have a mix of backgrounds, experiences and knowledge and include disabled people, unpaid cares and people who work in health and social care.

You can watch them engage with our witnesses every day from September 21st to 24th – to  find out more and get the latest programme updates as they are released visit  www.mtm.wales/citizens-jury-2020 or follow MtM on Facebook – www.facebook.com/MeasuringTheMountain or Twitter – @mtmwales.
