Looking at data about some of these factors can give us a better understanding of what may impact on young people’s mental health in North Wales, how we may need to plan our support services, and what we may need to address in the wider environment to help with these issues. There is no simple relationship between growth in the population of people aged 65 and over and the number of older residents who live in communal establishments. There are many elements that will affect future demand that we cannot model. The longer term policy trends towards providing more at home-care and general improvements in population health mean demand for care home spaces has not necessarily kept pace with population growth. Published in July 2024
